To pay tribute to the excellence of sport on the Seine and Marne, the Department supports many large-scale sporting events that contribute to the area’s attractiveness. In this way, the community intends to position itself for the Olympic Games, instilling a true Olympic dynamic along with the vitality of the territory. A sporting year in perspective for the Seine and Marne!
Backed by quality sports facilities and an important and valuable network of associations, both in terms of high-level sports and amateur sports, the Department is working to make the Seine-et-Marne a real country of sports through a dynamic and updated sports policy.
Throughout the year, the Department organizes sporting events focused on nature, such as the Rando des 3 châteaux, which takes place on 8 May. The local authorities also support many sporting events organized in the region, such as the ENGIE Open de Seine-et-Marne, the TIBY Val d’Europe handball or the OXY’TRAIL 2022 at the beginning of the year.
“We are committed to supporting our athletes, as well as the sporting events organized on our territory, which contribute to the promotion of the Seine and Marne. A young, dynamic, sports area full of many talents, green areas for sports and quality infrastructure for improvement. By encouraging sports, promoting sports for all, evoking passion, the Department strives to promote sports among as many people as possible.says Jean-Francois Parisi, President of the Seine-et-Marne department.
This year, Seine-et-Marne has the particular pleasure of hosting two major events supported by the Department: the Seine-et-Marne Athletics Meeting on 17 May co-sponsored and the 2nd Leg of the 2022 Women’s Tour de France on 25 July. Thus, the Department would like to use this national event to promote women’s sports in colleges.
“Like hosting the 2022 Women’s Tour de France on our soil this summer, the Engie Open of Seine-et-Marne is fully in line with the Department’s commitment to honoring women and women’s sport. This year we also launched Team 77 Volunteers ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympics. The department supports and trains 220 Seine-et-Marne volunteers to help them join the Paris 2024 Organizing Committee.”adds Buhra Fenzar-Rizki, vice president of the department in charge of sports.
