Eric ten Hag: Manchester United have spoken to Ajax head coach about moving to Old Trafford | Football News Sky News

Manchester United had “positive” talks with Manchester United on Monday and the club’s management appeared to be impressed with his vision and philosophy.

The conversation is part of an ongoing process of choosing the next permanent first team boss.

Now this process would have reached a more advanced stage, but this does not mean that Ten Hag was the club’s first choice.

As part of this process, United also plans to talk to other preferred candidates.

According to United’s sources, there is no first favorite yet and they are open-minded about who will be their new manager.

Sky Sports News Earlier this week it was reported that these are Mauricio Pochettino, Julen Lopetegui and Luis Enrique.

Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha believes the club can still attract the best managers in the world, but admits it will be a tough job for whoever takes over the club.

Ten Hag’s contract with Ajax runs until the summer of 2023, but United’s good relationship with the Dutch club – whose chief executive is former goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar – allowed them to talk to him.

The club wants to make a decision on its next permanent coach as soon as possible. However, they have not set an official timeline for the process, which is being led by Darren Fletcher and John Murtow.

Ajax and Ten Hag representatives have been contacted for comment.

United had previously distanced themselves from the coverage, suggesting they were circling Thomas Tuchel amid Chelsea’s uncertain future, with one source describing him as “the media doesn’t talk about reality”.

They claimed that a four-man shortlist was being considered to lead the club, which did not include the incumbent manager who had won the European Cup.

Former Manchester United player Terry Gibson says the club will have to start from scratch this summer as the club is too big to continue without trophies.

United are aware that the opening of a new ownership group at Stamford Bridge will secure Tuchel’s future.

The 48-year-old has also shown the exact opposite of wanting to leave Chelsea, overcoming difficult circumstances with aplomb and highlighting his happiness despite the upheaval.

United want the manager to be in place ahead of the new season.
